Good morning all, just a quick note before leaving to go cut grass at church. We are cutting today because of the Ala. / Fla. Game Saturday. Most the guys are going to the game. I intend to stay well away from the ivy! LOL!

One of the big stories in the news today is the new Supreme curt head, John Roberts quite a feat for a fifty year old! Now to get a lady back on the bench!

Big news here in town, Roger Staubach and Leroy Jordan have purchased a prime thirty-five acre plot known as mid town. Stan Pate a local developer has been at odes wit the city over the property for a couple of years. Stan closed the deal with Staudach yesterday!

Thought for the day, my grandpa use to say son, early to bed and early to rise will not keep you from your demise!

Hey everyone, I have little to talk about today. IU did get cleaned up shaved for the first time since the ivy got on my face. It was a slow go but got it done.

I went in to Sears to get parts for the mower deck and spent an hour and a half! Why engineers have so many different parts on a simple mower deck is beyond me! I have to remove a guard bracket to get to the mandrel that has to be replaced and the darn screws are special. Every deck I looked at Sears had a different size screw! There is no logical reason for this!

Shelly is keeping the great-grand kids at their place this week while Tina is working. We sure miss those kids not being around, although I have fits when their here. I started to leave yesterday and backed over a tricycle! I knew they were in the house but didn’t see the bike!

Good morning every one! A little bit better today but not good enough to play golf with the guys! I felt I needed to take a week off from anything physical. The doctor told Paul to stay away from the ivy for it least two weeks! We didn’t cut grass at church last week so this week is a must.

Speaking of cutting grass. I never got our lawn mower repaired! Our grass needs cut this week also. I suppose I will go in to Sears today and get the parts and special tools to do the job.

I was up till 1:00am going over invoice files on my estate coin collection. What a job! I did sell one coin on e-bay. I am going to hold off e-bay the sell didn’t cover my cost of listing the coins. I am looking at other ways of liquidation. Looking through the invoices FIL. Sold all the Morgan silver and most of the gold coins. I see no record of how much they sold far but I do no the cost was well up there.

Thought for the day, good results most likely requires hard work. Some just have it handed to them!

Our temperature is starting to break! The long range forecast doesn’t show a 90*! Next week we are to get down into the fifties at night. It is amazing how we talk about the weather all the time and are completely at is every whem!

I feel somewhat better today from the poison ivy. The meds are starting to take effect although I still itch in places. Well this to will pass and none too soon to suit me!

The meds make me sleepy so I have been catching up on lost sleep! I need to send David the prescription so he can get caught up too! LOL!

Not much going on. We got my granddaughter and her kids settled in a trailer about four miles from us. I hope it works out for her. Looks like a nice place for the kids. They have a swing set out front and are not on a busy road.

Thought for the day, we lost another of our great golfers last night. George Archer, known in his day as one of the best putters ever! RIP George!

Monday, September 26, 2005

Hey everyone, I had to brake down and go to the doctor over this darn poison ivy! I am one big itch! LOL. I called Paul and he is the same way. We are two dumb f..cks! I can’t believe that neither of us saw any ivy! My doc said man you’re a mess! Yea, I feel as bad as I look too!

We have about a hundred yards of red tops to cut and only cut about twenty. As screwed up as we are the bushes will be on hold for a while!

The talk of the town is the desperate housewife’s show. I hope every one liked it those girls are a mess. Tomorrow night is Boston public it looks like it will be another hit season too. I don’t watch much TV but I do like these two and dancing with the stars.

I thought I was loosing a little weight but at the docs office I weighed 218 again! Woo is me! I want to get back fewer than 200! I am to the point all I have to do is think about food and gain a pound!

Thought for the day, what do sex, food, and small children have in common? They all give me fits!

Symptoms
The rash can affect any part of the body. Commonly affected areas are the hands, forearms and face. The oil begins to penetrate within minutes of touching the skin. Within 12 - 48 hours, a rash appears as a line. Redness and swelling are followed by blisters and severe itching; within a few days the blisters become crusted, puss-filled and scaly. The rash will heal in about ten days.
Poison Ivy
A climbing vine with three serrated-edge, pointed leaves that grows in the East, Midwest and South.
In the northern and western states, poison ivy grows as a non-climbing shrub.
"Leaves of three... let them be."
Good morning every one, I told Paul to be careful and we both get it all over. I am a mess! I got it on arms, face, neck front and back! I had trouble sleeping from the itching! What a lovely ten days this will be!

Just think we have just started cutting the red tops! LOL! Well Paul my grandson Chad and I were going to play golf today but rain! I have been up science four and it has been study down fall!

Thought for the day, I have scratched so much my dog’s think I have fleas!

Saturday, September 24, 2005

Hey every one. Scot, Paul and I moved my granddaughter this morning! I am worn out! I wanted to get some work done at church but just to tired. It will have to wait till Monday.

Cutting the red tops is going to be a slow goes. They are full of vines, and many branches have grown through the fence. Paul and I worked several hours and only got four trimmed.

Michelle tagged me with a MEME !

Good morning everyone, I am running late this morning so just a note to let you no I'm thinking of all of you. Still the big news is Rita! How bad will she tear up the Texas coast and how high will the gas gougers push the price of gas.
I feel for all those stuck in traffic fleeing the storm. We are creatures of habit and always wait to late to respond, the huge mess at the gas stations and on the highways in Texas or the results.

Melissa tagged me with a MEME but I will have to do it later. Have a great weekend.

Thought for the day, I once said may all you problems be little ones and got slapped! So may all your problems be manageable and make you a better person for them!

Good morning every one, I have been with out internet service for two days! I have no idea what the problem was. You can't talk to a human anymore, everything is computer.

I was told the service had been restored to most of the Katrina divested area! Gees look mom we have internet, now if we only had a computer!
It looks like the Galveston area is heading the warning to get out! Rita is now a C5 and has the potential of extensive damage. My prayers and hopes go out to all in harm way! Generations forget the deaths caused by this kind of storm. Galveston was destroyed a hundred years ago by a hurricane! 2500 died in 1928 when a hurricane slammed Florida!

People love the coast so much they are willing to take the risk! I am not sure how the insurance industry feels about this! How can they keep putting out millions on storm damage? My grandsons other grandparents lost everything last year from a hurricane their insurance did not cover them. Now all they have is a lot in Orange beach that the haven't been able to sell. Not many will by where you can't get insurance!

Shaded dreams! This was their dream to live on the Gulf! Now all the have is a Camper on Logan Martin Lake! How do you start over when you have nothing left to start over with. I believe when this is all over the poor will be better off than they ever were!

I have been working at the church all week. Paul and I have all the hedges around the church and hall trimmed. We are taking today off from yard work. Paul has things he has to do and I have things I have to do. My insurance clam adjuster is coming by this morning. I have an estimate of around two grand to repair my electrical service. I haven't gotten any one to look at the roof yet. I cant tell if there is damage or not!

Thought for the day, count each moment as blessed, it may be your last!

Good morning every one, I hope all had a great weekend! As usual it flew by! I pulled a Karen day yesterday for the first time in my life without being sick I pulled an all day PJ day!

I found out the tractor illines at the lake has spread to my house! Scott got our lawn mower out and it is smoking the deck belt! I checked it an the darn thing has a spindle bearing going out.

I am running late this morning. I am meeting my golf buddies at 7:00am heading up to Graysville Al. to play at Mountain View golf course.

Thought for the day, take time to smell the roses but watch out for the thorns!

Sunday, September 18, 2005

Good morning every one, Darn I just lost my post! I am two days behind with all of you I hope to catch up today!

Scott and I cut grass at church yesterday. Started at 6:00am and through at 10:00am. Everything is so dry the grass is growing slower.

My grandson Chad and I played nine holes of golf at the lake. First time I have been up to the country club in about five years. They have the course looking good. It is a nine hole course with two sets of tees to play twice for your eighteen. Chad is a beginner and did quite well.

I was tired but we went to an open house at on of my wife's best friends. Paul was there and his eyes are all puffy from the bushes from hell! He told me the bucket lift is at the church for cutting the red tops. We may go ahead and start Tuesday.

Morning every one, last weekend of the summer! I hope every one enjoys it. Wednesday is the first day of Autumn, hard to believe but time marches on!

I have been working on a program that will give you time back! Sounds good don't it. I will be the wealth's retard guy in the world! Just think if you screwed around a day when you should have been working, you use my program and "BAM" you have that day back to do what you should have done! I'm still in Bata working the bugs out to make it honest no criminal intent. I have used it on a day my wife gave me a list of things to do and I played golf instead! For some reason I keep having to do that day over and over again! LOL! Every time I go back my wife has a new list!

I thought you might like to see my lawn mower grave yard at the lake!

I still don't no what we will get another tractor or a zturn!

Today is grass day at the church, we should get through early, only needs cutting in places we didn't cut last week! The truck went out on Paul and I yesterday. I believe it needs an alternator. We need that truck it is used every where around the church. The property is spread out it's long way to walk to the out lying acreage.

I thank you ladies for the compliments on the picture in yesterdays post! LOL! I forgot to tell you that was Paul! If I put mine up you might not come back!

Thought for the day, there is talk of a supper flew that will wipe out over half the worlds population, if not all. Did you ever think we may go the way of the dinosaur!

(I tried to Up load this morning no luck)
Good morning all, well Sears called me and made an appointment for Thursday the 29th.! By then the grass will bee nee deep! I hate to say it but I told every one the mower deck was about to come unglued.

Paul and I bout done our self's in cutting the bushes from hell! I cut both sides and he did half the top. It got so hot we were exhausted. I tried my best to finish the job but couldn't find the energy to do it. We meet again this morning to finish cutting and pick every thing up. The picks. speak for them self's. This is a job I wouldn't wish on any one!

Here is the sign for no parking that was beside the thorn bushes! At the end of the bushes there is a stop sign and no parking sign that also has been hit and the bushes are holding it up! This drive way goes back to our pre school and parish hall we call it the Talladega speed way entrance ramp! On school days you take your life in your own hands on this drive way!

This is the red tops that have to be trimmed back. We start this job a week from this Saturday.

Good morning every one, I hear some of you are getting some rain! We need it bad! There is a slight chance of a thunder storm today but it's so wide spread not many will get any rain.

Golf went a lot better but I still didn't score much better! I was hitting the ball well put my putting went to pot. The greens are like concrete, hard and fast. You just touch the ball and it would roll 12 feet! LOL! (not funny).

Two of my golf buddies are heading fore Notary dame this morning for this weekend football game. I was asked to go along but I have to much here to do. So much for retirement. LOL! I am not complaining just to long of a ride for me. I had rather do what I'm doing.

I meet Paul this morning to start cutting the other row of orange thorn bushes. I am not looking forward to it but it has to be done! I will get some pictures today, if I don't forget the camera! Next week I think we will start on the twenty feet tall red tops. The motel next to us is complaining about them hanging over on their property! They are huge and about fifty yards long. This will be a heck of a job to cut them back to fence height!

Happy hump day every one! Some how I made it through the day yesterday. I over slept and didn't get down to the church till 3:00am. We did get one row of the (bush from Hell cut) Paul said they were called lemon trees. You talk about thorns, they have them! Some where over three inches long. I have no idea how many I got stuck in my hands and two in my foot. They are terrible. Why any one would want to plant these is beyond me. We have one more row to trim, and I told him I would help him on Thursday.

After I finished at the church, I cut grass at the lake. Got 75% through with the front and a bearing went out in the mower deck. So right now I am down, no grass cutting till something is repaired! I called Sears and the mower in still under warranty I don't no how long it will take to get it fixed! Meanwhile back at the ranch! I have a little vacation from the lake!

I blew my stack at Megan yesterday! I picked her up at the bus stop and she opened the car door and throw her book bag in the car ripping the ash tray right out of the dash!
I admit it! I lost my cool! It was an accident, I no that but tell my temper that! I was tired and took it out on her. There was no excuse for me flying of the handle!

Today I will take it out on that little white ball! I have been trying to hit 25 balls a day with my 8 iron. Not doing to bad, hitting stright and a good distance. I will see if it helped any today at the course.

Thought for the day, my grandpa use to say son, a young growing mind wounds easily, patients is required!

Tuesday, September 13, 2005

Hey every one, just a short not to let you no I'm thinking about you! today I spent five hours cleanings out overhanging shrubs from in front of our pastors house. I saw it needed it when I was picking up limbs Friday. Man was it hot I had to stop several times and rest.

I have a date with thorn bushes in the morning! My friend Paul needs some help with the thorns, they were never cut all summer. He has been doing it, so it was left for his return. It is just to much to do by yourself! I told him I would help till around 6:15 then I have got to get Megan up to the bus stop. I am meeting him at 2:00am! He wants to get as much as he can before it gets hot. The church is well lighted so we will be able to see.

When I drop off Megan, I am heading to the lake to get the front cut. Thursday I will get the lake side. Wednesday is golf! I may go to the lake after that but I drought it. It's just to hot!

Thought for the day, what's the old saying "the harder I work the ferther behind I get!"

What gas shortage!

Good morning everyone! I read somewhere that it was raining in Canada, send some south! We sure need some, it is so dry and dusty, I feel like we're in the desert! LOL!

No work yesterday, I watched a little of the LPGA golf tournament, then loaded up four of the dogs Megan, Allison and two of Meg. friends heading for the lake! I hit a few golf balls along the lake front and that was the hardest thing I did all day. Oh yea I did give the dogs a bath. That went over big! Shelley's dog was so mad at me she got in the car and wouldn't come out till we got back home.
You might ask where are the pictures I took> Hum..... would you believe I forgot the camera! Dang, it would be nice to keep a camera at the lake! I would probably bring it home then! My wife brought the twins down and gave them water guns to play with. Every one got wet wither you wanted to are not! They had a ball shooting everyone and running! they are a mess!

My wife was so happy she shad a few tears, saying who would have thought we would be sitting around the lake playing all afternoon with our great-grad kids! I must admit it felt pretty good.

This morning I am going down to our perish and trim some much needed bushes, and just general pick up. Tomorrow I will head for the lake to start cutting grass. My BIL has all four of the gas cans, he must be collecting them! LOL! I think I have an extra one around the house some where. I will use it and take it with me when I'm through.

Thought for the day, someone said your only as old as you believe you are, hum... twenty-five was a good year!

Sunday, September 11, 2005

Good morning all, may you have a blessed Sunday. I hope your able to rest and enjoy the day. That's what I plane on doing. I am thinking of takeing our dogs to the lake today. Buddy has never been and I am a little apprehensive about taking him. He is such a big baby but a sweet dog. I don't take them when I'm cutting grass because they want to follow me every where. I am afraid they will get on the road. Out there they drive highway speeds.

Scott and I did well cutting grass yesterday at church. We had a full crew. Four tractors and a edger. We started about seven and was done by ten. Not to bad. I had the big mower and it was running great. It has a 72 inch front deck but was easy to move around the bushes. Not very fast but it got the job done.
The tractor I have been looking for to cut at the lake is much faster than we drove at church. We still have not made a decision to buy yet. At this stage of the cutting season we may just wait till spring.

Our Pastor has been in Ireland on vacation, he never noticed the grounds were in good shape! LOL! He has enough to be concerned with. We are starting a fund drive for a new church building this will keep him on his toes for months to come! We are still paying for a new high school so it's not a good time for a fund raiser but you have to plane well in advance to get any thing done.

Supper was great I had enchiladas and it was so good! We got caught up with Paul and Mary Lou. They really like their place in Ohio and want us two come up for a couple of weeks next year. They are about two hours out of Akron Ohio. Close to the Amish community. Paul got a golf cart to run around the camp grounds. I asked him how the Amish like this since they all have a horse and cart! He said we're not that close to them. LOL!

Thought for the day, " There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread but there are many more dying for a little love. There's a hunger for love, as there is a hunger for God."

Saturday, September 10, 2005

Megan has a friend staying over night I think they may have just now gone to bed! Allison has stuck to them like glue. Laughing and wonting so much to be in on every thing they do. She is only four but will hang in there with them. So far the girls have let her hang with them I hope that last through the day. Allison doesn't no what to think about all the giggling. neither do I!

Scott wants to go with me this morning to cut grass at the church. This was a surprise but I think it would be good for him. All he does is sit around the house all weekend.

Last night on almost every TV channel they had some one doing a concert to raze money for the golf coast. No doughty they need it. The stories that keep coming out of the area are heart rending. Seeing the bodies lying around all over is a Sean I want forget!

I have nothing planed for the weekend. Paul one of my best friends is back from Ohio. They have spent the summer there. More than likely we will go to La Fracas for supper I haven't been there since they left!

Have a good weekend no that I think of each of you always!

Thought for the day, as summer winds down, spring seems so far away!

Morning every one. Another weekend to relax and or catch up around the house. Like most of you, there is always something to do around the house. I have another home that I am being drown into. Our Church, most of the deities there are volunteer jobs. Because of this things don't get done until it doesn't work any more or is getting to be a eye sore.

Our ground keeping crew are getting old and tired from the never ending chore of keeping the grass cut, bushes trimmed and the place clean. One of the volunteers is 85 and still will ride a tractor all day cutting grass. Three others are in their early 70's! Where are all the young men? Most are strung out rising a family, and keeping their own home up!

Two of our best and leaders of the grounds keepers want out! They have worked for years at the church and now are wanting to just rest and take care of their home. These two have been the jack of all trades you name it and they have done it. Right now we see no one to replace them.
Two of my golf buddies are putting time in every week. Now they want me to join them. Not because I no any thing but I am a bodied, retired and no how to cut grass!

I went down yesterday and spent the morning picking up branches from Katrina. We have piles of wood along the road side to be picked up. Today we should finish up.
Driving around town, I saw trees down and branches stacked up every where. It's a shame that something can't be done with all this wood! It will take the city a long time to get all this cleaned up. I have no idea where they are taking it to. There will be a giant fire soon!

I hope all of you have a great weekend. Please take time to smell the rosés!

Morning all, you recently were told how the word golf came to be but that was for the amusement of you ladies. The word really means God only loves fools!

I guess they are preparing our course for a tournament because it has never been in better shape. They have the ruff about three inches deep and your ball drops out of sight before your eyes and you need a land mine sweeper to find it!
You guessed it! I was in the ruff all day! I lost a ball on the first whole! I dropped a ball and hit the second ball into the ruff. This was the start of a long day. The only time my ball found a fairway is when I dropped a ball into it!

OMG! do I love to hate this game! Someone once said that golf is a walk in the forest spoiled! AMEN! ( Mark Twain)

Shelly and Magen

Good morning everyone, happy hump day! I have been asked several times if we had damage from Katrina, Yes but not near as bad as some! We had a limb fall on the house, my wife's car and the power line coming into the house. So far I have not gotten any one to come out to access the damage. We got my wife's car back from the body shop yesterday. Looks like they did a good job, for what it coast I would hope so!

Complaints of gas in the area is wide spread. It looks like the oil distributors are going to milk this for all they can! I saw another major location station closed yesterday. No gas! Many have only their premium gas open. I haven't seen regular in a week now.

All this reminds me of the fishing hot spot! On the river you can run onto a school of fish and catch your limit real quick. When people see you hitting fish after fish they all come running. Soon every one on the river is around you fishing. That's the way it is now around town at the gas stations. I think they call this free enterprise! Not funny! Sell premium only, that's where the most profit is at! Many of these stations sell very little premium because it is higher and you car doesn't need it. All the newer cars on the road today run regular. They no you will have to buy it if you drive your car!
On a brighter note! I play golf today and will do my best to forget about people gouging others. It's a shame, when you have no choice! Hey is Big Brother watching you?

Thought for the day, today is Shelley's birth day my thoughts go back to her child hood. She was such a happy little girl! I have no idea what happened!

What a wonderful labor day, weather wise, I have seen in a long time. The lake was busy with jet skies buzzing around all over. No skiers though, it looks like every one has the large tubes to pull people around on. Megan and her friends enjoyed that, and she admits when the boat gets real fast she gets scared!
All the grass is cut again! My son came down long enough to cut up a couple of fallen trees. I have stacks of branches all over the place. We have one area we normally burn at but there is so much, I think I will burn this fall right where the stacks are at. Sure would save a lot of haling to the main pile.

My first attempt selling on e-bay was a dud! Time ran out yesterday with no bids. I thought sure the coins I listed would sell quick! The only one that made out was E-bay! They get their money up front regardless. I think the coin listing on their sight is just too big. I no I wouldn't take the time to go through forty thousand entries. There has got to be a better way!

I saw a first yesterday in our area! A service station closed, in a busy area of our town. No gas few customers. NO profit! I read on the net that the power investors believe the oil industry is heading far a bust! Oil prices will be back to twenty-five to thirty dollars!

I far one, want to see the use of gas for autos disappear! The people have been gauged by the industry and the TAX mongers. Course no mater what there will be TAX!

I hope your team won at football this weekend. Ours split! U of A. won and Auburn lost. So much for another 12/0 season! Would you believe I have no idea who won at golf this weekend. I have been to busy to watch. LOL, happy labor Day!

Thought for the day, "what profit is there in gaining the whole world and loosing your soul in the process!"

Good morning every one, so it's Labor Day! Last of the summer flings. Get out there and enjoy it!

We were at the lake yester day for our last big cook out and would you belive I forgot my camera! Oh well I spent the day picking up limbs from Katrina. I did get the lakeside cut. Today I will pick up and cut the front half! there are a lot of trees on the front so it will be a slow go with all the limbs down.

My brother-in law was suppose to have every thing picked up! LOL! he did get gas for his boat after getting my lawn mower gas! he is all heart!

Thought for the day, with out your labor where would the wealthy be?

Good morning all, not much going on around the creek. I have been bitten again by the pool table bug! Growing up I played a lot of pool but have played very little in the past twenty years.

I checked out Yahoo's pool game and can't stay away from it! This is quite different from my pool days but a lot of fun. Thousands of people are on line playing. From the beginner to the pro you will find enough excitement to loose yourself in. Makes me want to drag my pool cue out of the closet!

Hope all are having a good holiday weekend! We put a turkey in the smoker over night. You can smell that bird all over the neighborhood! LOL! This is our last big cook out at the lake. Not good if your trying to loose weight!

Good morning every one, another week in the archives! We are starting to experience temperature swings. Highs in the low to mid 90s and lows in the mid 60s. Yesterday I never turned the AC on. I only had one complaint. Buddy would go out and come in to stand on the AC vent! He had that look of ' give me a break' on his face!
Last of the summer holidays! I hope all have planes far family get to gather's and cook outs. With the price of gas going out of sight, many will be sticking close to home. We plane on gathering at the lake on Sunday and leftovers there on Monday. I will try to get grass cut while I'm there. My wife is starting to get up set about me spending so much time there, when I have more than enough to do at home!

Today is Tina's first day at the River Stop. She had to go in at 5:30am. I thought she wanted to walk to work and I was going to go with her but she got in her car and drove up! It's only about a half-mile from our house.

Has every one experienced the gas rush? Man the price changes every couple of hours around here. Taking Megan to school I saw 2.59 going and 2.69 coming back. In the afternoon it was 2.89 reg. and 3.09 sup. Every one is filling up afraid there will be a gas shortage. This causes a shortage! Many stations were out of regular and didn't no when they would get more! Yea sure! Talk about taking advantage of people! You have little choice if you want to live. Far most it's to far to walk anywhere. What ever happened to those neighborhood stores? Ours is now a beer joint!

Quote of the day from our B'ham. city council president, " don't ask who is going to pay for helping all those on welfare coming into the state from New Orleans and Miss. less just help these people!" Cold hard fact is this sane person has been saying there is no money for these programs the people want! What's the old saying 'cut of you noise to spite your face'! My heart goes out to all these people but some one will have to pay! No mater if it's a church, county or city someone will have to pay.

Thought for the day, "we knew this flood would happen when was the unknown"!

We lost cable yesterday so the PC was idle! I spent the afternoon moving photos to CD's and running maintained. I am starting to pick up spy ware again from someone's blog. It's not hard to tell who it is. It mostly comes from those sights getting paid from hits to their sight! I have no problem with this but when bugs are planted because I visited their sight I do mind! Even Pop under adds are an invasion! Why do these people feel they must stick it to you to show you their product! Again those putting this junk on their pc's are responsible for this! E commerce marketing! Hey it works ask Goggle who is making billions from their advertisers!

Gees I am ranting again! LOL! On a brighter note my grand daughter Tina got a job at a convince mart down the road from our house. This may not be to bad. They open early but close early too. The store wants to catch as much of the river traffic as it can so they are catering to the fishermen!

With the high price of gas now in town my wife wants me to curb going to the lake cutting gas. She doesn't understand if you let it grow it takes longer to cut and therefore more gas to do the job! I believe she is angry because her brother has not helped all summer! I refuse to get into this family problem. See I didn't rant about this! LOL!

Thought for the day, sometime it's darn if you do and darn if you don't!
