"Your Parachute"

Charles Plumb was a US Navy jet pilot in Vietnam . After 75 combat
missions, his plane was destroyed by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb
ejected and parachuted into enemy hands. He was captured and spent
6 years in a communist Vietnamese prison. He survived the ordeal
and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience!

One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man
at another table came up and said, "You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in
Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down!"

"How in the world did you know that?" asked Plumb.

"I packed your parachute," the man replied. Plumb gasped in surprise
and gratitude. The man pumped his hand and said, "I guess it worked!"
Plumb assured him, "It sure did. If your chute hadn't worked, I wouldn't
be here today."

Plumb couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. Plumb says,
"I kept wondering what he had looked like in a Navy uniform: a white
hat; a bib in the back; and bell-bottom trousers. I wonder how many
times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning,
how are you?' or anything because, you see, I was a fighter pilot and
he was just a sailor." Plumb thought of the many hours the sailor
had spent at a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship, carefully
weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in
his hands each time the fate of someone he didn't know.

Now, Plumb asks his audience, "Who's packing your parachute?"
Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it through
the day. He also points out that he needed many kinds of parachutes
when his plane was shot down over enemy territory -- he needed his
physical parachute, his mental parachute, his emotional parachute,
and his spiritual parachute. He called on all these supports before
reaching safety.

Sometimes in the daily challenges that life gives us, we miss what is
really important. We may fail to say hello, please, or thank you,
congratulate someone on something wonderful that has happened
to them, give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason.
As you go through this week, this month, this year, recognize people
who pack YOUR parachutes.

I am sending you this as my way of thanking you for your part in
packing my parachute . And I hope you will send it on to those who have
helped pack yours!

Sometimes, we wonder why friends keep forwarding jokes to us without
writing a word. Maybe this could explain it: When you are very busy, but
still want to keep in touch, guess what you do -- you forward jokes. And to
let you know that you are still remembered, you are still important, you are
still loved, you are still cared for, guess what you get? A forwarded joke.

So my friend, next time when you get a joke, don't think that you've been
sent just another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today
AND your friend on the other end of your computer wanted to send you
a smile, just helping you pack your parachute.......

Have a great day and stay in touch....

Sick leave:

I urgently needed a few days off work, but I knew the Boss would not
allow me to take a leave. I thought that maybe if I acted "CRAZY" then
he would tell me to take a few days off. So I hung upside down on the
ceiling and made funny noises. My co-worker (who's blonde) asked me
what I was doing. I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb
so that the Boss would think I was "CRAZY"
and give me a few days off.

A few minutes later the Boss came into the office and asked "What are
you doing?" I told him I was a light bulb.

He said, "You are clearly stressed out. Go home and recuperate for a
couple of days ." I jumped down and walked out of the office. When my
co-worker (the blond) followed me, the Boss asked her "...And where
do you think you're going?"

(You're gonna love this.....)

She said, "I'm going home too, I can't work in the dark."

We are having some great warm weather but no rain! Wendy and warm spells dry and danger from fires.
It looks like no rain for the next week or so. Warnings are out all over the state you must get a permit to burn.
Normally March is a vary wet month but so far we are over seven inches behind on rain fall.

I played golf Tuesday and worked up a good sweet from the 80* plus weather. We had a good round but my game stinks! LOL!

Yesterday we had our senior lunching at church. BBQ, from a new venue. Full Moon Rising! No it wasn't Chinese! Not bad but I have had better. After lunch I went to our golf course and hit a bucket of balls. Man the driving range was packed! Looks like I'm not the only one having trouble with there game.

Tiger is back today, may be he has his game back together. Last week was sad for number one!

Would you believe I had to cut grass again yesterday! The warmer weather has jump started the growing season. Today we have to go to Birmingham to decide on moving our account. Our back was bought out by BBC. There is a lot of bank dealing going on in our area. Any way we don't get up that way often. While we're there we plane to drop by and see one of my aunt's. I hear she is not doing to well.

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Morning everyone, I have been foiled again by e-mail! The coin story is not true as many of you let me no. I checked Snoops and found out the true story. You would think by now I would check something out before passing it on.

Yesterday is a blur! I vacuumed leaves at church and we got the fields cut. I went by a friends to look at their car. It was making a loud noise.

Turned out to have several problems. AC compressor, harmonic balancer and a oil leak. I told him to take it out to my local mechanic and I would give him a ride back home. He lives in town and I'm twelve miles out.

My wife and M took the great-grand kids to the museum and were there all afternoon. They had a good time. Needless to say it didn't ware them out! However my wife was exhausted !

Today is aluminum can day, the boys will get a kick out of going with me. Have a good day!

Here We Go Again!

Morning everyone, I hope all had a great weekend. I received this in a e-mail this weekend. Hard to believe those who are determined to cut God out of our history!

Our US Government is hoping the redesigned dollar coin will catch on.
It doesn't have In God We Trust stamped on it! I for one refuse it!

Turned out to be a work weekend for my son and I. We spent half a day Sat. trimming trees at church and hulling of the limbs. Yesterday we picked up limbs and branches at the lake getting ready to start this years grass cutting season.

We have the great-grand kids this weekend till Tuesday. They helped us pick up at the lake. They are a sight to see. Would you believe I forgot my camera!

We made them a lunch and each had a lunch bag. R wouldn't let go of his. It was so funny watching him pick up sticks holding on to the lunch bag. He eat everything and came home and had a big supper! It was a good day to be with family doing things together. (Rare)

Today they are going to Chums ( Gene Stallings kids hands on museum) They should enjoy that. Me I am meeting a friend to cut the fields at Church. We want to get it done before the weeds get to high. This is AEA week so the kids want be around. We don't cut or try not to when school is in session.

Hi every one, I'm running late today. My outside work is cutting into my on line time! I worked digging up roots again today and over did it. It was all I could do climbing the hill back up to the house. I had to stop three times and rest. It's very humbling to admit I can't do the things I use to do. My age is catching up with me.

I feel like the photo above of a black hole pulling stars and planets into its grasp. Like a pin ball bouncing around not knowing what I will get struck with next! This to will pass! I will do what I can, as I can, as long as I can. That's a bunch of cans! LOL!

Have a great weekend all! Have fun and get outside for a little while.

The Florida trip was fun but tiering! We did 1850 miles in four days! All I did was drive and eat! I think I gained about ten pounds!

Two of my cousins I haven't seen in a long time. Far left fifty-eight years ago! Middle twenty-seven years ago! I suppose you could say our family isn't close.

Our friends we stayed with out side of Tampa Fl.

I hope every one has a good weekend!

Wednesday, March 07, 2007

Well I've had a couple ask if I was going to post again and I scratch my head and wonder why?

Not many come by any more so why bother. Sense my Florida trip two have stopped by. So what is the point of continuing.

I suppose I just don't fit in with the contacts I've made over the last couple of years. My life is just day to day humdrum but it's my life and it was fun while it lasted.

I may still drop in on some of you time to time just to say hi! Spring has sprung have a great summer all!
